Protect Cyprus.
Keep It Beautiful.
CyNoLitter unites volunteers, communities, and change-makers across Cyprus to clean our beaches, protect our nature, and inspire a generation that refuses to leave litter behind.
Guardians of Cyprus's Natural Beauty
CynoLitter stands for taking initiative instead of waiting for others or institutions to act. It's about having the courage to start from zero and stay committed to what we believe is right, despite challenges.
At its core, CynoLitter is about raising awareness of the importance of our environment — living in respect and harmony with nature and all living beings around us. Our goal is to protect these natural spaces and pass them on to future generations, preserved and cared for.

“Cyprus has some of the most beautiful coastlines in the Mediterranean. It is our collective responsibility to keep them that way.”
— The CynoLitter Team
Two Cypriots, One Mission
CynoLitter was established by Laden Altay and Selçuk Görsay — two Cypriots who share a deep love for the island's nature and a strong belief that change starts with the individual. We are just getting started — and we are fully committed to serving and protecting the natural spaces of Cyprus for the generations that come after us.
Our Mission
To mobilize communities across Cyprus in the fight against litter pollution — organizing regular beach and nature cleanups, fostering environmental responsibility, and protecting the island's natural heritage for future generations.
Our Vision
A Cyprus where every beach, forest, and public space remains pristine and litter-free — where environmental stewardship is a shared cultural value embraced by residents and visitors alike.
Our Values
We believe in the power of community, the urgency of environmental action, and the responsibility we all share. We act with transparency, inclusivity, and an unwavering respect for the natural world.
Meet the Team

Laden coordinates our on-the-ground cleanups and partnerships — a hands-on leader who brings volunteers together and ensures every event runs safely and smoothly.

Selçuk manages the project's technical side — the website, tools, and data — helping CynoLitter run efficiently and grow its digital presence.

Emre builds and nurtures our volunteer community across Cyprus — creating outreach programs, youth activities, and helping people stay engaged.

Why It Matters
The problem of litter pollution is larger and more urgent than many realize. Understanding the scale of the crisis is the first step toward solving it.
More than one million seabirds and 100,000 marine animals die every year due to plastic pollution in the Mediterranean.
Up to 80% of marine litter originates from land-based sources — meaning our everyday choices directly impact ocean health.
A single plastic bottle can persist in the environment for up to 450 years, contaminating soil and water for generations.
Studies show that organized community cleanups can reduce visible litter on a beach by up to 90% in a single session.
Nearly 30% of Cyprus's coastal biodiversity is under threat from pollution, habitat degradation, and irresponsible waste disposal.
Marine litter costs the European Union an estimated €2.5 billion annually in tourism, fisheries, and coastline cleanup expenses.
